To increase the disk size for On-prem deployment when using OVA, follow the process described below.

Adding the YML File Prior to Increasing Disk Space

Prior to increasing the disk size when using OVA On-Prem, a YML file must be added to the configuration prior to increasing disk size. To increase the disk space for an on-prem host through an OVA deployment, you can add the following to the YML file before you increase the disk size in the VM settings:

#cloud-config

bootcmd:

  •  growpart /dev/sda 1
  • pvresize /dev/sda1
  • lvextend -l +80%FREE /dev/bloxone-infoblox-vg/overlay
  • resize2fs /dev/mapper/bloxone--infoblox--vg-overlay

Increasing Disk Space for OVA On-Prem Host

How to Make use of Additional Disk Size When using OVA On-prem

To increase the disk space for an on-prem host through an OVA deployment, Follow these steps:

Step 1. Add the following to the YML file (userdata.yml)
#cloud-config
bootcmd:
- growpart /dev/sda 1
- pvresize /dev/sda1
- lvextend -l +80%FREE /dev/bloxone-infoblox-vg/overlay

Step 2. Deploy VM without PowerOn
Step 3. Increase the disk size of the VM's, by Navigating to - Select the deployed VM -> Edit Settings -> Hardware.
Step 4. Then PowerOn

Note

Optionally, you can separate the WAN and LAN networks by modifying the VMX configuration, as follows

 ovftool --allowExtraConfig ngp_onprem_vA.B.C.ova ngp_onprem_patch.vmx

You can add required interface configuration to the VMX configuration, as follows:

 echo 'ethernet1.present = "true"'
 echo 'ethernet1.virtualDev = "vmxnet3"'
 echo 'ethernet1.connectionType = "bridged"'
 echo 'ethernet1.startConnected = "true"'
 echo 'ethernet1.addressType = "generated"'
